Our Projects
The Green Team is constantly searching for new opportunities to partner together with other township committees that share our passion and drive to promote sustainability, enhance the community through green initiatives, and promote shopping locally in order to support our local businesses!
Pollinator Meadow at Harrington Park
Through ongoing efforts the Green Team has been working on removing invasive plants such as autumn olive and multiflora rose, and converting a section of mowed meadow into a vibrant native perennial wildflower meadow to attract our imperiled pollinators.
Now in its second year, the team is working on developing an interpretative hiking trail to enable visitors to learn more about the various eco-tones present at the park, and identify some of the native flora and fauna. Plans are in place to install up-cycled TREX plastic benches, which the team was awarded for having successfully completed the TREX plastic bag challenge!
The Market at Long Valley!
The Market at Long Valley was established through a combined effort of the Green Team and the Economic Development Committee in the Summer of 2018. The goal was simple offering fresh local products including, farm to table offerings, handmade craft items and providing entertainment for the community. The Market, which is now in its second season, runs every Thursday afternoon from 3-7pm June-October in the field next to the First Aid Squad building on East Mill Road. We hope you will come and visit us weekly and help us to grow and expand for many years to come. Shop Local, Shop Sustainably, and Support your Local Farms and Businesses!
